"Let's Hog Tie Grandma & Bring Her Back To Utah!"

OUR MISSION: TO TRAVEL TO LAS VEGAS NEVADA TO FINALLY HOG TIE GRANDMA JOAN AND BRING HER BACK TO LIVE WITH MY PARENTS IN UTAH! WE WILL NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER AND WE WILL NOT COME BACK WITHOUT HER! AFTER 50 GOLDEN YEARS IN HER HOUSE AND 78 YEARS OF LIVING, IT'S TIME SHE SAID GOODBYE TO 120 DEGREE HEAT,LIVING IN "SIN CITY," AND IT'S DEFINITELY TIME TO SAY GOODBYE TO WAKING UP TO SHOPPING CARTS BEING LEFT IN HER FRONT YARD!
(After 50 years of living in the same house her neighborhood didn't stay the same. My Grandma was living in an honest to goodness "ghetto" in Vegas! Her house had been robbed several times, drunks break into her backyard to sit on her patio to drink beers, heck...she had drug dealers living 2 doors down from her! I mean, would you want your sweet Grandma living in a place like that? Well we didn't either, hence our mission!)
BE WARNED: SHE'S BOUND TO PUT UP A FIGHT, SHE'S BOUND TO GIVE US A TASTE OF HER FAMOUS GRANDMA SASS, BUT BY GOLLY, IT'S TIME WE MOVED HER CLOSER TO HER FAMILY!
{Here's the "Team!"}
{Griffin wanted to help too}
{This is her kitchen...I love the fake brick that was "the coolest thing in the 70's" my Grandma tells me!}
{Here is her living room with my favorite addition, 70's inspired mirrors!}
{Griffin thought her shag carpet was heaven!}
{Here's Grandma and me getting ready to say goodbye to her home}
{Since my grandma is pretty old, my parents ended up doing the majority of the moving and work for her! Needless to say, they were pretty StReSsEd out by this point!}
{I HAD to take a picture of her original yellow tub! I love the flowers on the bottom, I'm thinking of putting some in my tub}
{I know this is a goofy picture but I use to think that this mirror was just like the one sleeping beauty had! It's so ornate and fancy, wouldn't you think it was from a fairy tale as a kid too...or am I all alone on this one...anyone?}
{I don't know if you can see this or not, but can you see the football shaped piece of carpet that looks newer than the rest? Well, that's because my Grandma HAD a football shaped coffee table there for 50 years and the carpet IS practically brand new! That was the only place in the house that still had any pad left under the carpet!}
{I'm just showing off the best part of her house!}
{Here's what her house looked like from the outside}
{Were ready to rock and roll...let's get this show on the road!}
{Before we left, Joan HAD to say goodbye to her car. She LOVED her 30 year old Oldsmobile but she couldn't take it to Utah. It wouldn't pass inspection in Utah plus she barely drives anymore so my Moms going to cart her around when needed!}
{She had to kiss it goodbye!}
{Bye Joan's house! You were good to her but it's time she moved on...thanks for the memories.}
My Grandma's been living alone for over 18 years now and finally made the decision (after YEARS of us asking) that it was time to say goodbye to her life in Vegas and move closer to her family. She's going to live with my parents for a month or so while they fix up the cute little condo they bought her to live in 4 minutes away from their house. She can still take care of herself just fine but she was starting to get overwhelmed by all the "little details" of life. She never wanted to move because as she said so firmly, "This is my house and my home and I'm not leaving!"
My Grandma truly is an amazing lady who I am proud to say I take after! People LOVE my grandma, they don't just like her or think she's sweet, they love her within minutes of meeting her. She has such a strong, unique, loving spirit to her that people connect with instantly and I am so grateful to have her in my life. And I am so excited that she's only 15 minutes away from me now since I've never know her to be closer than 6 hours away so this is going to be great!

Yeah!!! I'm SO happy that she is here now!! I would LOVE to go and see her sometime with you!!
Your Grandma is truly an amazing person!! I remember when we went to visit her on the way back from Cali!! She had us all in tears within the first hour we met her!! She gave us some of the greatest advice on Life & Love, and the spirit in her home was just SO amazing, despite all the craziness that surrounded her!! I bet that was hard on her, to say goodbye to the home that she has been living in for SO long!! But I bet all u are sleeping better at night, knowing that she is closer and in a safer place!!:)

Cute post, her house looked just like my grandma's. Are all Grandma's houses the same?

What a cute grandma! Your mom totally looks like her! I'm so glad she's close to you guys now. It was probably hard for her to lose some of her independence to come here, and the life she knew and loved for years in Vegas. But I'm sure she'll be so happy being closer to all of you now! That makes me miss my grandma...can I share yours?!!
